An Order from The Universe

If you’ve been around here for a hot second, you know that on top of being a filmmaker, writer, and generally creatively inclined individual, I like to dabble in the spiritual and witchy.

At first, that looked like getting my 200 hr YTT training so that I could become a yoga teacher, or realistically, deepen my own practice. In studying the lineage of vinyasa yoga, I became aware of so much more: philosophies on surrendering, on patience, non-attachment, flow, etc.

The following year, I went to my first ever retreat and discovered the healing magic of Reiki, the power of sound baths and chanting, and the empowerment of finding people that wanted to trust in the universe as much as I did.

Fast forward another five years, and I have tried everything from moon wishes to tarot readings to vision boards to bring about my success as a writer and creative. What I’ve found, is I get frustrated really easily. I expect immediate return. I desire confirmation from the jump, and lose faith when I don’t know how to keep trusting that what I want is on it’s way to me.

Recently, I have been ordering a lot of things on Amazon to finish setting up our Airbnb rental. It hit me one day, when my mom asked when the french press was being delivered, that I didn’t know when it was coming exactly, but I had ordered it, trusted it would make it’s way to me, and let it slip from my awareness as I tackled other tangible action steps in front of me.

And I had an epiphany.

If I could be patient with the orders I placed online, trust that they would make it to me, and have the fortitude to keep taking action while I waited for parts and pieces to come together, I could do the same with the big stuff in my life. So I created an order form for the universe. I filled it out with all of my big manifestations, made note of what it would take from me for them to arrive, folded it up and placed it in my “Universe Box” where I put things that I want to leave to the care of the Universe.

So far, it has alleviated a lot of my self doubt, it’s given me space to imagine new projects and welcome spontaneous inspiration for action steps on my path. Nothing has been delivered yet, but the act of setting aside these “orders”, trusting they are on their way, has lifted a mental weight, and I couldn’t be happier.
